I was wondering...... bout the dog im bout to get.?

I am thinking of getting an australian shepherd this summer, bout other people in my family dont like there long hair, HENSE THE SHEDING. So is it popular or ugly to shave an australian shepherd during the time of the year when they shed the most. or would it be unnatractive? What other dogs are there that are just as intelligent but with much shorter hair?

I was wondering...... bout the dog im bout to get.?

One thing about those type of dogs is that no matter what time of year it is, they ALWAYS shed! I got one once thinking if I brushed him all of the time then I wouldn't see much hair around the house, but it never mattered how many times in one day that I brushed him, he still shed! But if you can get over the hair issue, or have him as a mostly "outside" dog, they are great to have because they are VERY smart and easy to teach. They also have TONS of energy no matter how old they are. They are very loyal and loveable!

Hope this helps and Good Luck!

I was wondering...... bout the dog im bout to get.?

No you don't shave that kind of a dog. THeir hair will grow back in course and they will itch alot.

It depends if you want the big dog or if a small one will do.

Go to www.dogbreedinfo.com they have a quiz you can take to see what breeds match your desires. They have a section on shedding too.

I was wondering...... bout the dog im bout to get.?

If you do a good job of shaving the dog- (Or have it done professionally), it shouldn't look all that bad at all and in fact, may help the dog stay a little cooler during the summer months. NEVER cut a dog's hair too short, especially if the animal spends much time outside, the dog's skin could get badly sunburned!!! I recommend a professional dog groomer. :-) By the way-australian shepherds are beautiful dogs and clever, too-(in my opinion)

I was wondering...... bout the dog im bout to get.?

Dogs have coats designed for the specific needs of the breed. My dog's skin would sunburn if he had no hair. Your dog's coat is designed to keep his skin from being torn or hurt as your breed is a tremendously active and curious dog.

Also, are you certain your dog's hair will grow back?

Do not expose your dog's skin without consulting the vet, and then take the dog to a groomer to have it professionally clipped.

I would never shave a dog for the sake of saving my home from shedded hair but I would consult a groomer about having him clipped.

Do not shave your own animal unless you have the proper tools for animal. Human shavers will pull the dog's coat by the roots and will not cut it.

Good luck with your new dog, they are terribly bright and curious and loving and will be a wonderful companion for you, just

I was wondering...... bout the dog im bout to get.?

Well, honestly I would NEVER shave an animal. They are born with hair for a reason. It's a layer of protection for them. Would a dog that has a little nuisance like shedding make the difference of you taking him? If so, rethink your decision because as a mom of three furbabies- I can attest to the fact that dogs have lots of nuisances. If you don't mind being a little bothered, then please read on!

It's funny how no one else has mentioned the easiest solution to a shedding dog. Brush him! I have two Saint Bernards- well known for their extensive amount of thick and coarse hair. I brush my dogs just about once a day- and it's a great time for them- it's a great way to bond with them and make them realize you care about them- while you avoid the yuckiness of having fur-furniture. I recommend the Fur-minator brush- you can get it at most pet stores. These things are about $40 but they are well worth your money I promise.

One more thing- diet is huge in a dog that sheds a lot. Give him a really great natural foods diet and his shedding will decrease dramatically. I recommend Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance or Innovo Evo.

Good luck with your new pup!

How do you make your dog not scare people?

she wouldnt hurt a fly but she barks like crazy and her hair stands up when anyone comes around the house..... even when i try to calm her

How do you make your dog not scare people?

Maybe try some obedience classes. I have 2 Siberian Huskies. One is off-white and dark grey in color with piercing blue eyes. She is very well behaved and normally quiet around other people, but she still scares some people because her looks resemble those of a wolf. I just chalk it up to ignorance and a lack of experience with dogs on the part of those people. My other dog is tan and red in color and has one blue eye and one brown eye. She like your dog, would not hurt a fly (neither of my dogs would) but she is very social, loves people and other dogs, and gets very excited and very loud around other dogs, when in reality, she just wants to go and play with the other dogs. But she does tend to scare people, because they don't know what her intentions are.

How do you make your dog not scare people?

give it a muzzel.

How do you make your dog not scare people?

Time to go to the mall, the dog park, the car, anywhere there are people. Espically bigger dogs. They need to get along with people, other dogs, and even cats (if you believe that). Go be social.

How do you make your dog not scare people?

I think your dog must get around people more so he gets used to it.

What maintenance does this dog need?

Okay, we have two cats that are allot of hassle we are giving the to our neighbors who adore them and we know they will take great care of them I was wondering what is the upkeep of a teacup yorkshire terrier , teacup pom or ghiahuhah please tell me what the cost of one of them are , the maintenance, how many times they do there business , do they lose hair and what do they eat thank you

What maintenance does this dog need?

Check out the internet and books. And it's Chihuahua.

Those little dogs are usually pretty pricey. If you get them from a good breeder, I would say at least $500. Probably a lot more. Yorkies and Poms need to be brushed at least once a day. All will need their nails, ears and anal glands checked regularly. They eat dog food, and they poop after they eat. Because they are all so small, you can't leave them outside for long, and they are fragile, so you have to be very careful that you don't step on them.

Dogs are a lot more work than cats because you have to house break them (cats will use the litter box with no effort on your part) and they are self-cleaning and are usually a lot more independent than dogs.

Don't get a dog if you can't handle cats.

What maintenance does this dog need?

good gosh!!!

if cats are a "hassle" for heaven's sake DO NOT get a dog!!!

What maintenance does this dog need?

if you cannot do the up keep on cats, who are very self sufficient. Then I don't think you need a "toy" breed of dog, as they need constant attention

What maintenance does this dog need?

They eat dog food - you can go to the pet store and buy it for them. The price will depend on the quality of food that you choose to feed - luckily, the smaller breeds don't eat as much!

They do their business as many times as is necessary, just like a human - the smaller the dog, the more often they're going to need to empty their bladder, though, so keep that in mind.

The initial price of the dog will depend on what sort of dog you purchase, whether it's papered or not, and where you are located.

Small dogs tend to be high maintenance! They need a lot of attention, and they can become yappy and snappy if not given the attention and training they need!

In all honesty, if two cats were too much for you to handle, DON'T GET A DOG!! Dogs are a LOT more hassle than cats - they need more time, more attention, they cost more....

Maybe you should invest in a nice fish tank. They're pretty, they're interesting to watch, and they don't require as much time and attention.

What maintenance does this dog need?

Will you pretty much let us know that you don't like hassle. Will you be responsible enough to potty train, even if it means getting up in the middle of the night to go potty. Will you take it to training classes every week for 8 weeks. What about all the vet care, grooming expense, chewing issues on your stuff. There is no such thing as a teacup. Why don't you start off with fish.

What maintenance does this dog need?

You think cats are a hassle?! What are you going to think about a PUPPY?

In my opinion, you don't know what the meaning of a lifetime commitment is to a pet, and you're not ready for a dog. Especially since you haven't done research because there's no such thing as "teacup" anything.

Until you're fully prepared to care for a pet for its ENTIRE life, don't get another. What happens when you get that dog you wanted and find it's a "hassle"? Are you going to give it to your neighbor? Dogs are more work than cats, and it doesn't seem like you're ready for one.

EDIT: All dogs shed. Even Yorkshire Terriers. They just shed less than other breeds. What happens if your family member is allergic to the dog? Are you going to get rid of it? I honestly suggest you wait to get a pet. You're just getting rid of your cats and already feel the need to get another pet you may not be able to keep up with.

What maintenance does this dog need?

I have two dogs and two cats and I wouldn't give one away, for anything!

If you can't handle a cat, even a high maintenance one, you can't handle a dog.

What maintenance does this dog need?

Cats are a dream next to caring for a dog. I think you need to volunteer at a local vet or a local rescue facility and learn to care for the dogs...grooming, brushing, walking (twice a day for 30 to 40 minutes), bathing, feeding, training, vet trims, etc. DO NOT GET A DOG.

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

we dont have the money to go to the vet, her ears are bright red and she keeps itching at them. shes a year and a half old.. i have cleaned them and plucked the hair our, there doesnt look like there is a wax build up or anything, and it smells like a ear infection... please help us! shes our baby and we feel horrible, any tips will be much appreciated

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

I have a couple of German Wirehaired Pointers that suffered from horrible ear infections for over 2 years...The vet would prescribe the same thing every time and as soon as the meds were gone, the infections would flare back up...I finally took one of them to a different vet for something else because my vet was unavailable...He noticed the ears...He gave me a squeeze bottle and told me to fill it with 1/2 alcohol and 1/2 vinegar and clean the ears at least once a day with that, preferably twice a day...That's what I did and after about 2 weeks, the ears leared up and for over a year now my dogs ears are infection free ! I now just clean the ears with that solution about once a week and it hasn't come back .. :-)

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

Have you ever had an ear infection? You must know how PAINFUL and uncomfortable it is! There is NO home remedy for this, so don't go putting random chemicals in your dogs ears. Your dog needs to see a vet.

If YOU had an ear infection, would you take the advice of random people on the internet, instead of seeing a doctor??

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

I can give you a home remedy, but it's actually as much as the vets. It's a mixture of zinc oxide, iodoform powder, and boric acid. You have to get the ingredients from a drug store, and it's usually about $150-$200 just to get the ingredients.

Don't try to treat at home- find the money for a vet. Nothing you can do at home will be as good, and your dog is uncomfortable.

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

You should take the dog to the vet but i understand not having the money. you can buy ear "cream" for lack of a better word at pet stores that has aloe in it that can help soothe the ears some but save up the money as soon as you can to take her to the vet

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

Don't pluck the hair out! Cutting is ok if they are long. If you have an electric shaver that sometimes helps if your careful

Wherever you pluck, it leaves a little whole and the infection gets worse.

Has the dog been in Foxtails?

Use a few drops of Hydrogen Peroxide in each ear. The HP will clean out the area and dissolve wax. Do this 3x a day or more if you can.

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

go see a good vet. may be bacteria build up in there and needs special meds to cure it.

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

Unfortunately the only way to clear up the infection is with antibiotics that you have to get from the veet.

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

If she was your baby and you didn't take her for proper medical care you could have her taken away from you and put in a home that would properly care for her. Let's see... where is the ear... close to the brain... let's not worry about it causing any REAL problems and just love her and she will be fine...

Hock the computer and get her proper veterinary care.... would really love to be your baby :)

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

take you baby to the vet. there is nothing you can do at home. dogs don't always show pain but i would bet she is having alot of it. she needs antibiotics.

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

u can try cleaning the ears with equal parts of lukewarm vineagar and water to flush them out,if u can smell and odor and she is shaking and scratching her ears she really needs a antibiotic to clear up the infection. u can get medicated ear drops at the pet store but when my dog had this problem i tried these drops and the only thing was that cleared her ears up was the meds from the vet.try to make payment to the vet because if it gets worse she could loose her hearing and be in a lot of pain later.good luck.

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

why did you pluck out it's hair what good do you think that's going to do! that is mean! first of all this might be ear mites not ear infection it should only cost around 30 for a vet appiontment and medicine for them and if you don't have that much maybe you shouldn't have a dog. they derserve help if they are . it wouldn't cost that much take them to the vet if you love them

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

DO NOT put peroxide or alcohol in a dogs ears! It doesn't fully evaporate and the by product is water!! Water is the last thing you want in a dogs ear! It could be ear mites. Take a cotton ball and swab the dogs ear GENTLY, get a dark piece of paper and swipe it on that, look really closely and you might see them moving around. It doesn't always work but you should still go to the vet, sounds like infection. Once this stuff is cleared up you can use something called Oti-cleans for ears. It keeps the wax and hair and junk cleaned out. If it is infection she is going to need meds to clear it up otherwise a much more serious problem can develop. Good luck! =0)

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

Do NOT use ANY home remedies in the ear...You have no idea waht type of problem you are dealing with. By using home remedies you could make the problem worse and even cause hearing loss..Get the dog into the vet and get a proper diagnosis..by waiting and by self medicating you could end up not only causing intense pain for your dog but also cost yourself a lot more money. Being a responsible owner means seeking medical attention when needed. In some states it is considered animal cruelty to not get proper veterinary care and lack of money is not considered an excuse.

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

GO TO A PET STORE AND ASK FOR DROPS

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

I understand your situation, however, ear infections are painful for pets and trying to treat it at home really is not going to help your pet, in fact there is a possiblity that you can do more harm than good. Please seek medical attention for your pet.

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

Ouch!! I just got over an ear infection and as big as a believer I am in home remedies....she needs antibiotics to get rid of it. I broke down in tears over it....she must be hurting.

You have to get the money to go to a vet!! It could turn worse and the infection could spread.

Home cure for a dog ear infection?

Cleaning is number one. Clean your dog's ears daily (for now) with cleansing pads e.g. Excel Ear Cleansing Pads. Dont' be afraid to clean as deeply as your finger and pad will allow. You should be able to feel a "pocket" as you work the pad down into the ear canal. If the infection is bad, you may have to treat the ear without a thorough cleaning, as it may be too painful. The pads are available from feed stores e.g. Tractor Supply Center, as are the other medications mentioned below. Follow cleaning with nitrofurazone powder and iodoform powder.

What breed is my dog???

my puppy has just abit over short white hair, a fox terrior face, Chiwawa sized.... can anyone help me???

What breed is my dog???

No one can help you.

What breed is my dog???

That's a raccoon.

What breed is my dog???

You should contact the vet, the pet store or the previous owner who gave you your puppy. He/she will probably know.

What breed is my dog???

This could be an albino St. Bernard puppy.

WOW! Can you post a picture?

What breed is my dog???

Could be...

Toy Fox Terrier - Also known as the American Toy Terrier. Affectionate and loyal, they are also stubborn, curious active and quick. The tail is docked short and carried high. Their coat is short and thick and is usually white with black %26amp; tan or tan markings. They weigh 3 1/2 to 7 lbs. and stand 10" at the shoulders.

Black spot on my dog's leg?

I have a golden retriever and on her front knee her hair and i think her skin has truned black...

I don't know what happened!!!

can somebody please help me!!!

I know she has mange and we are treating her for it but i don't know what this is!!

she is old like 10 or 11 years

It also seems like it hurts her

Black spot on my dog's leg?

If she's an older dog, this makes perfect sense. It's very normal. What you are seeing is, essentially, a callous. Older dogs and sometimes younger dogs who spend a lot of time on concrete get these on their joints because of bearing pressure on their legs. This can't be reversed once it has developed. However, rub some udder cream into it, and it won't hurt her as badly. Also, keep her off pavement as much as possible and provide soft bedding. If you think of it in terms of a car (not sure if you are mechanically minded, but worth a try) essentially her shocks are wearing out and need some cushioning.

Black spot on my dog's leg?

better take her in to the vet's office...they'll know best...it could be an infection, or something from the mange

Black spot on my dog's leg?

I agree with SM vets, the best thng to do

Black spot on my dog's leg?

You need to take your dog back to the vet. There are several things this could be. If she is in discomfort the vet should look at her. This dog is very old for her size and if she is going to continue living well she has to be in the best possible condition. Her mange could just be having a flare up or there could be other problems. Also old dogs get what you call hot spots on their joints. This is caused when their is some inflamation in the joint so the dog licks its skin and causes a sore. This could be what you are seeing.

Make an appointment for your dog to see the vet though. Just in case it is something more serious.

Black spot on my dog's leg?

take her to the vet %26amp; see what it is

Does anyone know the best way to clean a bambooo floor? I have dogs that shed, cant deal with the ha

like is it solid or is there cracks in it...if its solid i would buy this stuff, called zen i think you can get it at a trader joes..and use that if theres like cracks in the floor i would just vacuum it ...i hope this helped..

Does anyone know the best way to clean a bambooo floor? I have dogs that shed, cant deal with the hair, thank

How do I maintain my bamboo flooring?

A. In order to maximize the durability and beauty of your bamboo flooring, we recommend the following practices as part of your floor閳ユ獨 normal care and maintenance.

Place doormats or rugs at entrances to collect moister, sand, grit and other potentially damaging substances from being tracked onto your bamboo floor.

Dust mop or vacuum with a soft accessory to keep your bamboo floor clean from dust, dirt or grit. Yanchi Bamboo flooring cleans easily with a Swiffer or similar type dry mop.

For sticky spots, use a soft damp cloth to gently scrub the floor. If necessary, use a generic hardwood floor cleaner. Do not use steel wool or other abrasive scouring pads.

Do not use harsh detergents, abrasive cleansers, or corrosive chemicals to clean your bamboo floor.

Avoid excessive water. Use mats in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room to protect against spills. If a spill occurs, blot it up immediately with a dry cloth or slightly damp mop.

Use only colorfast and non-scratch carpeting or pads on your bamboo floor.

Protect the floor from furniture legs and do not walk on the floor with high-heeled shoes.

Although Yanchi bamboo flooring has effective UV inhibitors in its pre-finish, it is recommended that it not be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods.

Does anyone know the best way to clean a bambooo floor? I have dogs that shed, cant deal with the hair, thank

Bamboo is actually more durable than most hardwoods.

Dry sweep, then damp mop. Wala.

My exgf neglected My dog while away how can I heal him?

he's skinny, his hair is falling, wounds all over, paranoid, thousands of fleas, I cannot take him to the vet because pitbulls are illegal in Miami and they'll take it away from me also I cannot take him out of my house because people will assume that I'm putting him to fight please help

My exgf neglected My dog while away how can I heal him?

Start with a high protein diet to fatten him up and some raw eggs, they have amino acids to help the coat. Monitor his stool to make sure he is going enough and it is "normal" and make sure that he is staying hydrated. Go get him some flea shampoo and bathe him, might take a couple of times but also you are probably gonna have to bug bomb your house! Take him on a car ride or to a friends for a few hours while you do it.

Just love him, it will come back to him that you are a good owner. Poor guy, I feel horrible for him and what a horrible person to do that to a dog! Sorry you can't take him to a vet, they are beautiful dogs and it's sad they are illegal. Good luck to both of you, I hope he is ok.

My exgf neglected My dog while away how can I heal him?

Take him to a vet in Broward. They are allowed there. Report It

My exgf neglected My dog while away how can I heal him?

cast heal minor wounds

My exgf neglected My dog while away how can I heal him?

Can you take him to vet out of the area? I would....

What are the wounds from? Did she fight him?

Feed him high quality food - like Innova, California Natural, Wellness, Royal Canin or another top quality brand from a pet store (no supermarket food). Give him wet food mixed with dry to boost him up.

Get him on Advantage or Frontline Plus flea treatment ASAP.

My exgf neglected My dog while away how can I heal him?

i feel very bad for the dog, poor guy...but why on earth have a dog that you can never take to the vet???? he will never get his vacs, his meds, his medical maintenance. i dont understand, you are neglecting him as well.

My exgf neglected My dog while away how can I heal him?

Take him to the VET!!! Even if it means you have to give him up! You will probably save his life! You could be arrested for animal cruelty or you could take him to the vet-lose him but at least he'll still be alive

My exgf neglected My dog while away how can I heal him?

Make sure he has food and water at all times to cure him being skinny.

Give him a complete anti-tick-flea bath 3 times.

Love him and give him all your undivided attention.

Buy him some treats, toys and pet him a lot.

Treat the wounds with a anti-bacteria treament and clean them.

Go to the vet ask them if they have anti-shedding medicine.

P.S: Didin't it appear to you that you should leave your dog with someone else instead of your ex because she might take revenge by abusing your dog.

My exgf neglected My dog while away how can I heal him?

First, what kind of wounds are we talking about? Skin sores, injuries, abuse? Whatever they are, treat them first. Second, get some flea dip, bathe him really good (after the wounds have healed a bit) and dip him well. Find where the fleas came from (if your backyard, go to Home Depot and get the yard treatment stuff). A flea collar would be good too. All this time, work on his diet and give him lots of care, cuddling, touch, etc.

Offhand I'd say she didn't just neglect him, she abused him. Confront her with it; skinny and hair falling out is nutrition. Fleas happen to the best of dogs, but the wounds indicate something else and the change in attitude definitely points to abuse.

No way would I stay with a woman who wasn't kind to animals, especially my own dog.

My exgf neglected My dog while away how can I heal him?

First things first - treat him for the fleas. You need to get an accurate weight on him now and get him either Frontline plus or Advantix to get rid of the fleas. In three days, bathe him in an oatmeal shampoo to relieve any itching or tenderness from him scratching because of the fleas. Allopecia (hair loss) is common in flea infested dogs, so the hair issue will clear itself up when you get the flea issue taken care of. Might take a few months for his hair to come back to what it was. The wounds I am assuming is because of him scratching. Anything deeper than a surface lac needs to be treated by a vet. His paranoia will fade in time if you give him structure, discipline, exercise, and some attention.

If Pits are illegal in Miami, I suggest you rehome him ASAP before he is confiscated off of you and euthanized. He shouldn't have to pay because you can't follow the law.

My moms dog has a rash, need a lil help?

She has 2 mixed breed small dogs, one is pretty old and the other is about 2. This rash started on the older one. It's mostly on her back, while the other one has it more on her chest but also her back. The rash looks kinda like rust, it makes them look really dirty but they're not. They scratch at these places alot, sometimes till they bleed. They have even began to lose hair in spots, it doesn't look like mange, I've seen that on dogs before. What could this be, I've looked at so much stuff online and can't find anything that seems to be whats going on with them. I know some people are gonna say VET, but thats a problem, my dad has been laid off and she can't afford to do that, they are also moving so I have her dogs for a few days. I'm worried my dogs may catch what they have. Does anybody know of a site that has pictures of skin disease on dogs? That might help us figure out whats going on.

My moms dog has a rash, need a lil help?

okay with out seeing this this is going to be hard to do, it is possible that they have a mild staff infection or allergy to fleas, check them thouroughly all over to eliminate fleas also keep them away from your dogs so if it is contagious they wont get it, bath them in a good oatmeal shampoo(for dogs) and let it soak for 20 min it will help with itching

My moms dog has a rash, need a lil help?

It sounds like flea dermatitis, but it's impossible to be sure without looking at the dogs.

They are obviously uncomfortable - tell your mom I said to take both dogs to the vets.

My moms dog has a rash, need a lil help?

my dog developed a horrible rash and began chewing on her tail... turns out she was allergic to fleas.... she is an inside dog, but had spent the night @ a family farm. I had to give her frontline to prevent fleas and a cortisone shot,, which causes increased thirst and urination. Later i had to put her on antibiotics to heal the sore spots. She had several bald spots on her body from chewing. It cost me $300 but was worth it to heal her. Look around for a low cost spay-neuter clinic, call them and ask them if they know any low cost veterinarians who can help you. I tried the no itch sprays from petsmart b4 the vet visit, but it was a waste of money. My dogs just ran from me and chewed their tails anyway. Good luck. Maybe you can find a vet who would do a payment plan. Fleas are going out of season if that is the problem.

My moms dog has a rash, need a lil help?

Still might be mange, demodectic or puppy or "red" mange presents as small spots. Usually found on pups but any dog with a compromised immune system can get it as the mange mites are always present on the animals' skin. Stress can also bring on an outbreak.

http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_dem...

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...

Demodectic mange is not usually considered contagious. It does require vet treatment, usually a series of dips or baths, to cure it.

Another possibility would be flea allergy dermatitis.

Do a Google Images search for both...

My moms dog has a rash, need a lil help?

They may have hot spots which are what happens when dogs have fleas, then the dog scratches and bites the area which keeps it raw, swollen some and they also loose hair in the area. Definitely check for fleas, if they have them and you can't afford Advantage or Frontline from a vet (some vets will sell just one tube instead of making you buy a whole pack), then buy a dog flea shampoo to kill the fleas. After that the oatmeal bath would be good for the itching. Also, their is a website at www.herbnet.com that has a pet section and gives natural remedies you can use at home to control fleas. If it isn't fleas, I would keep them away from your dogs till you find out what it is just to be safe.

My moms dog has a rash, need a lil help?

Sounds like a condition called yeast, that causes the discoloration you describe. How often do these dogs get a really good bath and dried good?? Yes, it itches worse than poison ivy on a person. Very similar to yeast infection that ladies get! It does spread. The main risk is secondary infection from scratching till they bleed. Those spots must be cleaned with mild soap/water, dry and neosporin. There are special shampoos and treatment. I understand the financial problems. I will refer your post to the rescue for input.

My moms dog has a rash, need a lil help?

Ok if its on both dogs now, its CONTAGIOUS. You can't diagnose a rash on the internet any better than you could provide a prescription to cure it. Meanwhile your dogs are being exposed to it, racking up a bigger bill in the long run. The dogs need to go to a vet. The dogs are obviously suffering if they are scratching until they bleed! I know what a vet charges and how costly it can be, but quite simply, letting it go is irresponsible. It doesn't sound life threatening, but if because of their age, they die from this your parents could be held criminally negligent. When your dogs catch this now YOU will be taking your dog to the vet and what, your mom and dad still won't take them? I'm really not trying to be rude so I apologize if I sound harsh. You can't see the tone of voice or body language in a typed letter. Taking the dogs to the vet is necessary.

My moms dog has a rash, need a lil help?

Okay, "pets4life" referred your question to me, so here's my response.

It can't be demodectic mange, for it's not contagious, and the chances of two dogs not related to one another, coming down with it at the same time, are just about unheard of.

Whatever it is, it's contagious. No one can make a diagnose without seeing the dogs first.

You said your parents have financial problems at the time, what about you?

It could be a fungus, spring and fall are known for having different kind of funguses going around.

For the time being, go to any drug store, and buy a bottle of Betadine, and scrub the dogs really good with it, especially in the areas where they itch the most, but also all over. Rinse them well, and then, apply a fungus cream, over-the-counter, like for Athletes foot, three times a day on the worst spots. If it is a fungus, it'll kill it for sure. If it is not, it'll at least give them some relief, meantime, figure out a way to get them some professional help, as your dog may end up needing it also.

Okay i have a 5 pound little poodle dog?

he wont sit still for anyone to cut his hair paticularly around his face and it is going in his eyes which has to suck does anyone know anything i can give him or do to calm him down where i can cut his hair?

Okay i have a 5 pound little poodle dog?

Don't do it yourself. He is too small for sedation except by a vet. Take him to a professional groomer for a trim.

Okay i have a 5 pound little poodle dog?

Do it when he's fast asleep.

Okay i have a 5 pound little poodle dog?

my mother in law used to have a poodle and she said the best thing to do would be to get a dog tranq from the vet

Okay i have a 5 pound little poodle dog?

you may need some help from a very gentle soft spoken person to hold him while you trim with sissors (not electric clippers, the noise will frighten the poor darling to death), and give lots of treats and loves afterwards.

Okay i have a 5 pound little poodle dog?

it takes patience, all dogs have to learn. if you start grooming as a puppy they will sit still, if not, you have to teach them to sit still

Okay i have a 5 pound little poodle dog?

I have a ten pound poodle myself and often I have to trim around her face myself. Sometimes when they're fast asleep it isnt always an option especially if they're laying on the side you need to trim on. Decide when you want to trim, keep the scissors by you on the couch on the other side of the where the dog will lay, just wait til its really relaxed and perhaps even dozing off. Works everytime!

What do i do if my dog is going bald? She sheds alot more than a normal dog, and she has a few bald

it can't be mange or the mange bugs because she has no bites or any indication of mange. she's just losing her hair. i've had her for 2 months and she shed in the beginning because she was so skinny like she was starving and malnourished. she's gained a little bit of weight and looks alot better now. but now she's going bald. i don't have the money for the vet and she is otherwise fine. i'm thinking maybe it could be the shampoo i'm using or just the fact that it's spring and she's shedding her winter coat. she has a bald spot on her neck and at the front of her ears the hair is thinning and she hasn't grown her hair back from when they shaved her belly 2 months ago when she got fixed. i'm thinking she has a hair growing problem. someone please give me some advice or help or ideas please. anything would be appreciated.

What do i do if my dog is going bald? She sheds alot more than a normal dog, and she has a few bald spots.?

Are you feeding her a high quality of dog food? Also, it could be a thyroid problem.

What do i do if my dog is going bald? She sheds alot more than a normal dog, and she has a few bald spots.?

If she was really sick when you got her, she could just be throwing her coat and growing in a new onethat is healthier. Your best bet is to see the vet, though.

What do i do if my dog is going bald? She sheds alot more than a normal dog, and she has a few bald spots.?

natural shedding does NOT CAUSE BALDNESS..

your dog may have flea bite dermatitis, mange, bacterial skin infection, allergies

you NEED to see the vet for diagnosis..

you may want to feed her a high quality dry kibble,,

What do i do if my dog is going bald? She sheds alot more than a normal dog, and she has a few bald spots.?

Advice? Take her to the vet.

No money for the vet? Then you shouldn't own a dog.

Funny how you can afford Urban Decay eyeliner but can't afford to care for your pet!

What do i do if my dog is going bald? She sheds alot more than a normal dog, and she has a few bald spots.?

Rub a little bit of Vaseline into the bald spots - my vet recommended it for my little jack russell - i must say it does work - don't know how but it does! He said the breeders do it??? It takes a few weeks to have any effect but it works! Good luck.

What do i do if my dog is going bald? She sheds alot more than a normal dog, and she has a few bald spots.?

There are a ton of causes of hair loss - all of them need to be diagnosed by a vet and none of them are caused by shampoo.

Some of them are cushing's syndrome, alopecia, hypothyroidism, estrogen excess, ringworm, seborrhea, dermatosis, and lots more.

She can't be diagosed or treated over the internet - she really needs to be seen by her vet.

What do i do if my dog is going bald? She sheds alot more than a normal dog, and she has a few bald spots.?

Sounds like allergies. Dogs are usually allergic to foods they are fed. You may want to look at if you changed anything recently. Also don't overbathe that makes it worse. On a side note doggy cushings disease causes hair loss like you described, you should worm her first to rule out that but if it doesn't work you may have to break down and take her to the vet.

What do i do if my dog is going bald? She sheds alot more than a normal dog, and she has a few bald spots.?

It would really be best for a professional to take a look to get a true idea. Although my parents had this problem with a dog they adopted from the pound. When she was taken to the vet it was suggested they give her fish oil pills. You can get them over the counter and she is taking three a day. Her coat is now doing much better and the dog kinda thinks of them as a treat? Hope that helps....

What do i do if my dog is going bald? She sheds alot more than a normal dog, and she has a few bald spots.?

Mange may have no other indications other than hair loss and red skin. What breed is she? Shedding shouldnt cause bald spots, as they just lose the heavier outer layer of fur. Could be stress, or a medical problem, or the shampoo, or the food, or allergies to something in her environment, or you may be bathing her too often. You will need to take her to the vet to find out what it is, sorry, but you will need to.

Gun dogs?!?

Are well breed German wire hair dogs supposed to be naturally responsive too hunting and retrieving animals that were shot. I know they have to be trained but do they naturally like it? I am asking this because my friend has one and it fails at almost every category of being a good gun dog. Hes scared of gunshots, loves playing with rabbits and ducks chase him around. Does this mean that he was not bred properly? His parents were supposed to be great gun dogs to.

Gun dogs?!?

Many serious hunters are known to have "returned" their pups to the breeder, because the dog just "didn't have what it takes" to do his job well. That doesn't necessarily mean that the pups weren't bred properly, but sometimes there are puppies in a litter that are slightly "different" than the other pups. Reputable breeders do their best to ensure that the pairing of their sire and dam conforms well to the breed standard. They also do their best to accentuate good qualities, and eliminate faults, but it's still a crapshoot. Not all the dogs they breed turn out as well as they hoped.

Gun dogs?!?

Often, dogs have to be trained not to be gun-shy. Even if his parents were great gundogs, perhaps he didn't get that behavior. Is he a pup or a young dog? Does he point?

http://www.sportingdogsupply.com/classi1...

Does the dog like to play fetch? He might be trying to catch the rabbits and ducks - my retriever mix does this. I think they show a natural TENDENCY toward these things, but definitely have to be trained.

How old is the dog?

Here's a link to the breed standard, in case that helps:

http://www.akc.org/breeds/german_wirehai...

Gun dogs?!?

My lab is a excellent dog for hunting. Guns don't bother her and she just cant wait to get in the boat. She just shakes when she sees the hunting cloths come out. She is also a house pet. Some people believe that a hunting dog should not be a pet. My dog has a impressive pedigree, her grandfather was a grand champion. Not sure if that makes a difference, but she is a great dog either way.

Gun dogs?!?

No it does not mean that he was not bred properly. Different dogs have different personalities. So they react to a gun shot differently.

Gun dogs?!?

Not every "hunting type" of dogs are naturally good at it. you might have overwhelmed the dog as well by piling too many experiences on the dog all at once or too close together.

Take the dog to a trainer for eval. The trainer will be the best source of help and advice.

Gun dogs?!?

It doesn't matter how great the parents were if the person doing the breeding doesn't know what they are doing. Putting two 'great' dogs together doesn't insure anything and rearing of puppies can have a lot to do with their behavior later as well. If the puppy was never exposed to noises, as some people tend to keep them in quiet areas and such, then there would be no way it would be used to loud noises like gunshots and expecting it to automatically think nothing of gunshots when it hasn't even heard a pan drop is a bit much to expect even of the best hunting dog. 'Playing' with rabbits and ducks doesn't indicate much either. Since he chases them around, he obviously has some prey drive though... but basically even the best genetics can be screwed up by a poor breeder and then an even less knowledgeable owner. I have had GWPs and for the most part they are extremely birdy dogs -- they tend to be a bit big in their runnings but are usually very adept at checking back and tend to have a lot of natural tendencies that can be easily worked with but if ignorned or even subdued, they aren't going to automatically be good gun dogs. The answer is yes, they usualy 'naturally' like it but they can be trained through ignorance to not be acceptant of it. Maybe get some books on rearing gun dogs ... it might not be too late but who knows. I can't imagine how anyone can assess that it 'fails at almost every category of being a good gun dog' when one obviously has very little knowledge as to what that entails...

Gun dogs?!?

it means he doesn't give a flying f***! he wants to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gun dogs?!?

Wow, what a bunch of crap answers you have so far. I find the one where the person talks about his lab the whole time especially annoying.....was that supposed to be an answer or a rant! I have heard these dogs are pretty good in the field, but as with any pup, if he isn't raised to hunt, he probably won't be any good. I have one hunting dog that had it to begin with and one that didn't and that happens sometimes too, sometimes they just do not have the instincts that others do. I seriously doubt it was the parents to blame, probably just luck of the draw or the pups initial training. Everyone thinks they are an expert trainer if they read a book, and that isn't the case.

I have a Maltese dog he has some of the brown staining.?

Can anyone help me get rid of the staining from tear and pee? It's a boy and the pee stain is all down his leg. I don't want to bleach with hair chemicals. Thank you.

I have a Maltese dog he has some of the brown staining.?

Much of the brown or red staining in the eye area is caused by the dyes used in dog food- you can go to an all natural food or have you groomer remove the stained hair when grooming. There are eye wipes available but i tried them and they dont really work

As for the pee stains I can relate b/c my male Maltese has the same problem. His doggy penis is so big in relation to the rest of his body hat he hits his leg all the time! Monthly grooming and home bathe as necessary alleviate the staining.

Good Luck!

I have a Maltese dog he has some of the brown staining.?

As far as the tear staining I hear bottled water helps.Meaning you only give the dog bottled water to drink. As far as pee stains take a doggie baby wipe sold in pet stores and clean the area as needed.

Pets Dog and Cat Alergies and breathing trouble?

I have a cat and two dogs my wife is now complaining that she can not breath because of this.I want to keep my pets.Is there something a can shampoo the dogs and Cat with?I also heard if i keep theie hair short that would help. What else can i do?

Pets Dog and Cat Alergies and breathing trouble?

why did you ask this 3 times

Pets Dog and Cat Alergies and breathing trouble?

wash and brush them frequently, especially during allergy season (they bring in the pollen on their fur), keep pets OUT of the bedroom and she might want to look in prescription medicine for this...I have asthma and in addition to my regular rescue inhaler, I take Advair and Singulair, plus Nasonex for allergies and I dont have any problems being around my cat...

Where did curly hair come from?

I read that poodles have curly hair because they went into the water a lot, because they were work dogs helping people catch their fowl etc. Does human curly hair come from being in the water too?

Where did curly hair come from?

It usually grows out of your head though in some cases it is found in other areas. I like curly hair.

Where did curly hair come from?

My pubes are always wet.

Where did curly hair come from?

no

Where did curly hair come from?

Are you serious? No, human curly hair doesn't come from being in the water.

Where did curly hair come from?

i believe the difference between curly and straight hair comes with follicle shape somewhere along the line, the shape of the hair follicles changed. whether it was from oval to circle or vice versa, i don't know. but, oval-shaped follicles make curly hair and circular ones make straight hair.

Where did curly hair come from?

Usually people who come from warmer climates have short curlier hair that keeps them cool, People who live in Colder climates have long straight hair that can keep them warm.

I just gave my dog a bath, and I alreafy dried a good 90 percent of him. but he's a little mois

he's a little oist around his hinds and the area near the penis. he doesn't want go get dried! I use a hair blower to dry him.

Just rub round that area with a dry towel. He'll be fine.

Keep him somewhere warm after his bath so he doesn't catch a chill.

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

im thinking about getting a Shiz zu but i'm not sure any suggestions? i like the small dogs were u can put cute ribbons in their hair!!

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

it realy depends on what your looking for in a dog, long hiar you can put ribbons in you can get from a stuffed animal.

toy breeds tend to be fairly hig energy indoors, true they dont need a long walk (however they should be taken on at least 1 structured walk per day for mental stimulation and training, and should be abel to go somewhere fenced in and secure (ONLY SUPERVISED) to run around and play offleash ie a backyard.

when inside toy breeds can run around crazy and be more high energy than larger breeds.

toy breeds tend to be hard to housebreak, they need to be taken out frequently, for pupies every 1/2 hour to 1 hour untill they can hold it to 6 hours at 6 months (the general rule of thumb is 1 hour per month of age up to 6 hours during the day or 8 hours overnight at 8 months, but it requires training)

they realy should be creat trained...

even if you litterbox train you still need to be ever watchfull of your puppy in order to take them to the box/pad in the same frequency as you would take it outside...

logn haired dogs require frequent grooming...by that i dont mean simple brushing, that should be done EVERYDAY without fail, but you will also need to visit a groomer ever few weeks while your puppy is young to get him/her used to it...by the time the adult coat comes in trimming shoudl be done every 6-8 weeks to keep the coat healthy.

a groomer can teach you how to do it whihc saves a little money, but youd have to be secure, have a well trained dog and dedicate yourself to doing it as often as a groomer would be expected to.

what size of dog are you looking for? if your looking for a toy breed you can dress u and carry around PLEASE get a stuffed animal or a webkinz...live dogs while its fine to put ribbons in the hair and dress them occasionally and even SOMETIMES carry them, they are DOGS, not fashion acessories! they like to walk and play in the dirt and eat bugs! (yes, most toy breeds WILL eat bugs)

do you want a dog thats none shedding, some long hiared breeds are, some artn...

do you want a dog whos going to be more outgoing and friendly or one who may be standoffish with strangers but utterly doveoted to you (this option often makes finding and keeping a boyfrined hard lol)

many toy breeds are companion dogs, they get distressed when you dissapear for 3 seconds to use the bathroom, many become highly stressed and even destructive if left alone during the day, count your work/school and after work scheduals into the equasion. are you looking for a more independatn dog who likes to snuggle some of the times but will go and play by themselves if your busy, or do you want a totally DEVOTED breed who wants to sit on your lap all the time but doesnt like you to get up to go to work or do the dishes.

do you have other dogs? cat? pets? children?

what about noise? most toy breeds are barkers, training can help but these little guys thing there guard dogs.

are you willing to take puppy to proper socilization and traingin classes?

the shi-tzu is a nice breed, there very low shedding and usually good for allergy sufferes, and of course are a naturally long haired breed (though this breed can be kept in a teddybear cut, keeping the coat in its Longest form requires LOTS of upkeep!)

they are genrally clownish, and typically good with kids, there not TINY so not as delicate as some toy breeds (dont belive anyone trying to sell you "teacup" "tiny toy" or "imperials" for thousands of dollars, none are recoginized akc and just byb ways of getting you to pay more for the runt because smaller is trendy, you WILL pay later in life when the dogs health fails due to bad genetics)

they tend to be rough and tough little dogs who LOVE to play. they can be barkers though.

Lhasas tend to have a similar personalities.

maltese are another nice breed

yorkies might be too much dog , they are terriers before they are toy breds and can often be too intense...

you realy need to figure out what your lifestyle is first and what kind of dog would fit in that lifestyle...

ribbons in its hair should be the LAST step in deciding!

also PLEASE rescue or support GOOD breeders

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

well there is no such thing as an inside dog Hun so I am not sure what you mean. All dogs need to go out to socialise and for the other obvious reasons, and also for the exercise. Even small dogs need to be walked. They also need to be socialised with people and other dogs to rule out other further behavioural issues later on down the line.

Humans have a tendency to want to humanise dogs, its not fair, they are dogs and not kids, nor are they fashion accessories. If you are serious about getting a dog as a pet and you need a small dog because of where you are living, then do your research and find an appropiate breed to suit your needs.

UPDATE.

My goodness , lots of thumbs down on advice that is true. If you dont like the answers dont ask the questions.

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

Please don't choose a dog based on if you can put ribbons in its hair. There is a lot more to a dog than that. Research the different breeds to find what is right for you. Your local animal shelter has tons of wonderful dogs and I'm sure you can put ribbons in their hair too. They even have specialty rescues. Like Eskimo rescue, Pom rescues, Yorkie rescues etc. I'd look at local rescues first! You won't regret it! ;o)

My favorite inside dog is the toy poodle. I had one growing up, but they do require more grooming than others.

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

1) It's Shih Tzu

2) Getting a dog because you want to "put cute ribbons in their hair" is no reason at all to get one.

3) If you're really serious about a dog DO YOUR RESEARCH about which breed would be best for your lifestyle.

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

omg get a yorkie!!!!! so cute and are famous for ribbons in their hair!! and arent as yippy and sooooo sweet!!

http://images.google.com/images?hl=en%26amp;q=...

also your dog will need to go outside sometimes lol

and only put ribbons in their hair if they dont mind if they try to scratch it off take them OFF

remember dogs arent accesories they are living with a pulse!!

and please try to adopt from a shelter!!! save a pup!!

i got my yorkie, maltese, poodle, jack russel mix from a shelter and he has such a personalitty!!!! and ribbons are O. K but please dont be the one to put little sweat shirts on yr dog! can you say tacky and uncomfortable for some dogs

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

how about a Pomeranian

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

I would pick from:

Pomeranian

Papillon

Pug

Chihuahua

Yorkshire Terrier

Affenpinscher

Pekinges

Miniature Pinscher

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

I have 2 small inside dogs that hate having bandannas on, they scratch and pull at them when I bring them home from the groomer. They also need lots of exercise which is problematic when there's ice and snow on the sidewalks, so I have to figure out how to exercise them inside during the winter. Do some research on the breeds, a small, cute dog doesn't mean a low energy dog. Good luck.

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

I would get a small poodle. They can be clipped and bowed up.The shed very little also.Get one you like and the one that likes you.Shop around.Finding a friend is not easy....Good luck.

I'm thinking about getting a small, inside dog?

get a schnoodle. they are cuter and less bitchy

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is th

I bathed him once a week, give vitamins and brush his hair everyday, clean his teeth and take him for a walk every weekends.Everybody in the family loves him dearly,we treat him like a baby,i really dont know why he's behaving like this.what should I do?

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

Coprophagia or stool eating can be caused by several different conditions. Vitamin and dietary deficiencies occur in a small percentage of dogs and in some cases vitamin supplements will alleviate this problem. Some veterinarians believe that dogs consume their stools in the early stages of anemia. If your dog is older this should be something to have your veterinarian test for. Also hookworms can cause stool eating so that possibility should be checked into. Some medications may cause a dog to participate in Coprophagia as well. Inflammatory Bowel Disease pancreatic problems and various other medical abnormalities can all be the cause for stool eating. Therefore it is best to have your pet thoroughly examined by your veterinarian to rule out any illnesses. Additionally some dogs eat their stools due to a behavior problem; they are trying to hide their scent. If your dog is otherwise healthy then one solution to stopping thisbehavior is to add a supplement to the dog's food which will make the stools taste bad to him while providing a nutritional supplement. Forbid is one of many products that effectively breaks the stool-eating cycle.

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

my dog did that a lot when she was a puppy. but she quickly grew out of it when she was about a year old. i think it's normal.

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

Well if it;s outside I think that you should clean up his poop more frequently. It's just a dog thing they're kinda nasty animals, but I'll never stop loving my dust-bunny eater!

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

get that checked out by a vet!! EWWWW

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

Isn't it because they get good things (Nutritional stuff) that cannot be digested at first, they gotta get it the other time around.

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

I could be a sign of poor nutrition, but it's hard to tell because I don't know what your feeding. Check the ingredients of the food, if it contains any by-products, corn, wheat, soy, cellulose, rendered animal fat or bone meal then it's a bad food. Stay away from anything that you can get from the grocery store, nearly all of those foods were involved in that terrible recall last March. Here is a list of good foods to consider feeding:

- Wellness

- Canidae

- Natural Balance

- Innova/Evo

- Solid Gold

- APD (Advanced Pet Diet)

Hopefully this helps, and make sure you pick up his poop right away before he has a chance to eat it. If you have any other questions email me at katielovesreading@gmail.com.

P.S. If this still continues after you have made these changes, try a product called "Forbid". It's known to be pricey but it works extremely well from what I've heard. Good luck!

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

You kno wat i was watchin Animal Planet. and if your dog does that then u should try feedin it pineapples. cuz when it uses the bathroom and eats it, it wont taste good. dogs dont like to eat then after its digested.

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

I believe dogs do that due to a lack of something in their system, I'd call the vet and ask.

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

This unpleasant dog behavior is known as coprophagia, the rather distasteful habit that compels some dogs to eat their own and other dogs' feces.

The good news is your dog will probably outgrow it 閳?as most dogs do. But until she does, there is not much you can do about it.

While you are waiting for your dog to improve her culinary tastes, immediately clean up any feces, and keep your dog on a leash to limit her access to it. Also keep her on a monthly deworming medication and heartworm preventive.

With regard to diet, there are numerous products that you can sprinkle on your dog's food to discourage coprophagia, but there is little evidence of how effective they are.

Ultimately, keeping your dog away from any feces, her own or another dog閳ユ獨, will help her outgrow this habit.

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

Some dogs are attracted to their own poop, but it is not normal and you should not allow the behavior. Especially if you give this dog affection and allow it to kiss you or other family members or friends. I suggest you "bite" the dog the moment you notice its interest in the poop. Doing so will snap s/he out of it. The more you monitor his potty runs and correct the unwanted behavior, the quicker you should see wanted results.

Also, walks should be daily. At least 45 minutes in the morning, or an hour spread out throughout the day. This time is minimum. The longer the walks, the more exercise and tiring he'll be to want to cause havoc or unwanted behavior. Also, remember not to give affection when he's done something you don't appreciate. Affection is not just touching, but verbal. A dog should never be hit or kicked or spanked, but your verbal tone gives him notice of what is good and what is bad.

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

go to the vet, cuz that's GROSS! Don't let her lick yur hands or face... :P

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

THIS IS A BIG DOG? ALL DOGS EAT DO-DO , IF POSSABLE? CLEAN UP BEHIND YOUR DOG ASAP IF DO-DO ISNT AROUND HE CANT EAT IT CANT GIVE YOU THE ANSWER TO WHY THEY DO THIS BUT IF YOU TRY THIS MENTION ABOVE IT SHOULD HELP MAY WISH TO CALL YOUR VET TO FIND OUT WHY?? GOOD LUCK

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

Sometimes it is because they are lacking a certain amount of vitamins. For others they can smell the food they ate so they re-eat it. If this is the reason and it not because a vitamin deficiency it becomes habit. So get him checked by your Vet and rule out the vitamin issue. Than when you see him it do it tell him no or he will always do it.

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

First off a dog needs to be walked more then just weekends. At least once a day.

A dog eats its own poo when they are fed food that is does not have any nutritional value. Try another brand, dry food preferably. The dog eats the food you are giving it and then it goes right through the dog (think white castle here :) ) and then the dog smell the poo and it smells just like the food he/she just ate. That is why they do it.

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

There is a powder you can get from your vet that will help stop this behavior. You add it to their food, and it gives the poo an "unpleasant" taste. My dog did that when he was a pup, and the powder stopped it pretty quickly.

I caught my maltese dog eating his pooh,i fed him twice or three times a day.what do you think is the problem?

I have 2 Maltese, they BOTH do it too... per the vet, it has NOTHING to do with diet, the amount of walks, or how he is treated. PLEASE, it is not a behavior issue, they dont know it is wrong, it canine nature, you have to teach them not to do it

. It is something they just do, most grow out, mine are 2 years old, and still havent. The obvious thing to do is clean their poop up immediately and sternly say "no" anytime they perform this, or go near it. I have tried just about everything product wise UNDER THE SUN to stop it... I just am diligent about cleaning up after them, and disciplining them, and they seem to have at least stop doing it ALL the time....

GOOD LUCK

Has anyone used Nzymes Ox E Drops for dogs with severe ear infections, yeast prob hair loss allergie

I dont want to buy yet another product that doesnt work..vets

cant seem to help her at all....

Has anyone used Nzymes Ox E Drops for dogs with severe ear infections, yeast prob hair loss allergies etc..?

Does your dog have reoccurring yeast infections in her ears? If she is a floppy eared dog this is common. Plain rubbing alcohol will solve it. If she has an active infection, use it three or more times a day. Lie her on her side and pour a capfull into the ear. (less if she is a small dog) Just don't let it run out into her eyes. It will get the yeast under control in a few days. Then, after the infection is healed, use the alcohol once or twice a week to prevent another occurrence. It will work and costs less than a dollar.

It is not unusual for floppy-eared dogs to have yeast infections over and over and over. Some people say it is an allergy. I think it is simply that air cannot circulate through their ears well. Alcohol does work and costs a lot less than those repeated one and fifty dollar vet visits.

Has anyone used Nzymes Ox E Drops for dogs with severe ear infections, yeast prob hair loss allergies etc..?

Yes, tried the drops for a dog with yeasty ears.. Gave it a very good try and it did absolutely nothing at all.. Also gave her the tablets at the same time..

Nothing.. The good thing about the whole deal?? They did refund my money when I returned the empty bottles.. Very quickly actually. Even tho they weren't very happy about it, not friendly about it, and accused me of not loving my dog cause I wouldn't use the product for more than a year (cause they said that's how long it would take for yeasty ears, even tho they weren't all that bad.. ) They did in fact refund my money to my Mastercard.

What actually worked in getting rid of the yeasty ears, was switching to the Canidae...

Has anyone used Nzymes Ox E Drops for dogs with severe ear infections, yeast prob hair loss allergies etc..?

If your dog is having repeated ear/skin infections and your vet can't seem to cure it, ask for a referral to a dermatologist. It will be expensive, but will save you lots (possibly hundreds) in the long term by cutting back on vet visits in the future, not to mention it will save your dog lots of discomfort.

If your dog's infections are caused by allergies, which is quite common, then you need to treat the infections AND get the allergies under control. Benadryl can help mild allergies (call your vet for a proper dose) and for severe allergies there is a medication called Atopica. Atopica is very expensive but it works miracles.

Again, though, I think your best bet is to go to a specialist. I've seen clients decline derm referrals for years, spend lots of money on trying to treat the problem at their regular vet, and eventually have to go to a specialist anyway who cures the problem. If they had just gone to the dermatologist in the first place, they would have been a lot happier (along with their dog!).

Has anyone used Nzymes Ox E Drops for dogs with severe ear infections, yeast prob hair loss allergies etc..?

I have 2 labs one get bad ear infections alot, due to allergies. I now give her MSM 1000mg, twice a day. Also with her food I give both of them yogurt, in with there food. The yogurt helps cut back of the bacteria that causes yeast infections.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes.Wha

Easy trick: take the blanket outside %26amp; shake it like crazy before washing it! I have done this for years with dog blankets, beds, and towels I have used for drying them after bathing. This simple extra step works wonders.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Go ahead and wash it and when it is finished I wipe it out with a damp paper towel.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

hand wash it in a little tub

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Laundry-mat

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Chances are you have dog hair on your clothes already so it would be no different if you held your dog then washed your **** than if you washed the dogs blanket.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

'Fraid so.

If you wash them in a separate load it will minimize the hair transfer.

I know people who have separate machines for their clothes and the dog blankets. I wish I did. Someday......

Take the blankets to the laundromat. But be polite and clean out the machines when you are done.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Wash the dog blanket separate from the clothes, then run the washer through a cycle with nothing in it before you wash clothes in it.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

I always washed my Dogs blanket, and beds separately from out clothes Should be okay then.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Wash it alone. Remove the blanket and then put the washer through the rinse cycle again, empty.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

I have a small blanket for my cats. They're always on my bed, so that has a little hair on it, too. I just washed the blanket with the sheets. When you put everything in the dryer, the hair will come out in the lint trap. (I guess this will work if you allow your dog on your bed.)

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

wash it without the rest of your clothing

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

I would take it to the laundromat and put it in one of the industrial washers there. It will cost a couple of dollars, but it will save you a lot of stress trying to defur all your clothes in the future! :)

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Wash the blanket in a separate load. It will be fine.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Wash the dog blanket by itself or before you thrw itin with the regular wash put it in the dryer for a few minutes and the lint filter will take the hair off the blanket then wash it!

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Do your dog blanket and your clothes in a separate load.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Well there are a few choices, you can put the blanket through the dryer so that the lint catcher catches most of the hair, but wether you choose to do so or not you should wash it seperate from any other clothes, then make sure you run an emty load. You can also wash it along with rags used for messes, this helps catch the hair. Or you can also take it to the laundry mat. I know alot of people who do this, just remember the people who will use the washer after you.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

i do it all the time...I don't have that problem, just clean out the tub after you finish

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

wash it seprate from ur clothes and then vacuum out the dryer and wash ur clothes

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Why don't you use a lint ball in your washer. It will catch all hair etc...

http://www.nextag.com/lint-balls/search-...

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

I wash my dog blankets with my washer and the hairs don't get on my clothes after I wash the blanket. So it will be okay. I hope you have a lint trap on your hose though, there will be a lot of hair. I even have a nice dryer which removes all the hair from his blanket.

I am scared that if i wash my dog blanket in the washer that the hairs will end up on my clothes. What do i do?

Does he shed that much? The dryer will take all the extra hair out.I have never had that problem when I wash and dry my dog covers and cushions.....

What my cat & dog has?

well i know this is under cats, but anywayz my cat has been scratching alot and takes out scab/hairs out of his back, its really nasty, and my dog, i think she has it now, she scratches and bites her self alot and then she gets pissed off bcz she cant scratch it and starts rolling on the floor on her back and kinda growls, and when u stand up you can see her back is red/bloody looking and stuff, what could be wrong with them?

What my cat %26amp; dog has?

Your cat and dog may have mites. Mites usually start in the ears but can spread to other parts of the body if they are not taken care of. This also may lead to mange. Please contact your local Vet or buy a good shampoo, Walmart carries several brands be sure to read directions first. You can treat the sores with an antibiotic cream that you can also get at any store (for humans). Be sure to clean the area with peroxide first. Hope this is a help to you.

What my cat %26amp; dog has?

Instead of guessing, I would take at least one to the vet. Could be mites, fleas, scabies, or the mange--and all of these diseases need different cures. I do not recommend any store bought meds (especially when you do not know what you are treating) because store bought meds (especially Hartz) has tended to cause allergic reactions in most of my animals.

Some animals--like my cat--have servere flea allergies. One or two flea bites and she is ripping her fur out. Luckily, this is cheaply treated by a pill you can get at the vets office. All of the diseases listed above are easily treated once diagnosed. Please see a vet.

How well can a dog see in pitch dark?

My back yeard gets pitch black until moon comes around after midnight.

I can't see my white long hair chiuaua when he goes out for before bad time potty.

Can he see around? or is he just smell his way around?

Oh, my night light has been out lately...

How well can a dog see in pitch dark?

=We searched on "can dogs see in the dark" and then pawed through the Dogs category in the Yahoo! Directory to shed some light on this issue. What did we learn? You and your husband need that nightlight a whole lot more than your furry friend does.

Dogs have excellent night vision, a trait crucial to their predatory ancestors. The minimum threshold of light dogs require for vision is about five or six times lower than that of humans. So your pooch won't be stumbling around in the dark if you don't leave a light on for him.

Unlike our eyes, a dog's eyes are designed to function well in low-light conditions. Both canines and humans (and many other animals) have two types of light-sensitive cells in the retina called rods and cones. These cells respond to light and process visual information, which is transferred to the brain for interpretation. Rods work best in dim light and can detect motion. Cones are used in bright light to detect color and details.

The retinas of dogs are dominated by rods, allowing them to see very well with very little light. They can also sense small motions, which helps make them good hunters. However, dogs have about one-tenth of the cones that humans do, so they don't see color in the same way we do.

How well can a dog see in pitch dark?

Thanks much for the information!

I know that cat has excellent night vision, but, wasn't too sure of dogs, and it made me a little nervous to let out my dog into dark.

Now, I feel so much better!!!! Report It

How well can a dog see in pitch dark?

yea i think so

How well can a dog see in pitch dark?

you think it is pitch dark, but there is a small amount of light. Different animals have different abilities to see in little light. I believe your dog can see enough to get around, but certainly not like in daylight.

How well can a dog see in pitch dark?

I think they use the scent to guide them. They do it even with daylight.

Why do girls want hair underneath their arms in america? it stinks?

Why does my daughter want hair underneath her arms. The odor is terrible. My two dogs will sit down next to her and stick their noses underneath her arms as if they were two pairs of dirty socks...my neighbors dogs love her because of the odor. They do the same with their noses. and only her armpits not mine or anyo fthe other family. I do not let her come over now because of the odor. It stinks up my home and I have to use fabreeze when she leaves.

Why do girls want hair underneath their arms in america? it stinks?

First of all, its not customary in America for women to let the hair under their arms grow. This is more of a European thing.

Secondly, if she smells bad, she probably doesn't use deoderant or antiperspirant. If it was simply because she didn't shave, we would have that problem with all men since they don't shave either.

You should talk to her about it.

Why do girls want hair underneath their arms in america? it stinks?

thats you

Why do girls want hair underneath their arms in america? it stinks?

haha, oh dear, try suggesting she wears deo?

Why do girls want hair underneath their arms in america? it stinks?

Well, not all girls in America want underarm hair. In fact, I don't know any girls like that! And if she smells so bad, try talking to her about it. She should start to wear deoderent if she isn't already. If she already is wearing deoderent, try getting her another kind. Good luck to you and your daughter.

Why do girls want hair underneath their arms in america? it stinks?

I think you should be nice to her and mention it, as she most proberly wont be able to smell it herself.

Why do girls want hair underneath their arms in america? it stinks?

She needs to wash more often and use deodorant. The hair doesn't cause the odor; that's from not being clean. Hair is just as clean as skin, as long as it's washed regularly.

White dog --- black floor?

We moved to a new house with a black floor. The white hairs are terrible visible on it. How to make the dog black?

White dog --- black floor?

Hi. I agree with your answers on here to add white rugs to your black floor. They will look stricking against black and it certainly will help with your white hairs from your pup.

Take care. Patti

White dog --- black floor?

bring it to the groomers and dye its fur and everything black

White dog --- black floor?

Light-colored rugs, or you could remodel your floor.

White dog --- black floor?

Just brush the dogs hair regularly so that he does not shed all over the black floor!! Preferably do it outside, and Im pretty sure dying the dog is gonna be considered some kind of animal cruelty if this doesnt work maybe new floor if its bothering you alot.

White dog --- black floor?

Get some white rugs. And leave your dog alone.

White dog --- black floor?

You can't. I had a black chow with white carpets, so my only advice is this: get new flooring put in, or invest in a good vacuum.

White dog --- black floor?

well you could also brush the dog on a daily basis .

White dog --- black floor?

Forget trying to change the dog. Daily brushing of your dog will take care of a lot of the hairs on the floor. It will also be a good chance to spend some quiet time with your dog.

As far as the floor goes, use a dust mop daily to pick up the hairs. If you don't have a dust mop, use a Swiffer duster. Don't let it build up. Do it twice a day if you need to. It only takes a minute. Damp dust after if you need to.

White dog --- black floor?

Think about it this way: you could drive to the groomers every so often to have your dog dyed black which costs money to drive there and back, plus the grooming bill, for the rest of the dog's life, OR-just change your floor once, pay one bill and be done with it.

White dog --- black floor?

dont color your dog change the floor color

White dog --- black floor?

get a vaccuum

White dog --- black floor?

Here's a solution to eliminate ANY shedding.

Shave the dog bald :)

Problem solved, amen.

White dog --- black floor?

Spray paint, or refinish the floors. You don;t want to be living the previous owners floors anyways.

White dog --- black floor?

clean more often, buy a house with different flooring, change the flooring or get over it! at least you can see where the hair is, some of us have to go hunting for it!

White dog --- black floor?

Make the floor lighter

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

every since we got her I have been home with her while my husband is at work during that day. when we would go out at night Alle our 10 month German Shepherd would be fine being by herself.

I recently got a job where I am gone from 8am to 4 or 5 pm. while my husbnd is gone from 7 am to 5 pm.

Alle has started to take the dirt out of our plants and cover our floor with it, tear things up and chew things (she never tore or chewed on anything before) ...like envelopes, hair clips...

Is or does my German Shepherd have seperation axiety? If not, what else could it be?

Need help soon because were fixin to get another german shepherd pup this weekend and dont want alle to show him bad habits.

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

That's exactly what it sounds like, that and boredom. Have you checked on maybe finding someone you trust to go and take the dog for a good walk while you are at work? That should help alot.

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

It could be that, or possibily boredom from being alone

i have a dog with seperation aniexty, but i'ven learned ways to stop her behavior of destroying things.

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

sounds like separation anxiety. i had the same problem years ago with one of mine. the vet put him on "doggy prozac" for 30 days and he was good as new.

we have an Aussie that has a little anxiety problem, but we give him MELLOW MUTTS from DOGSWELL. they can get expensive because it's 1 MUTT per 15 lbs.

make sure you don't leave the pup alone with the adult for awhile. use a crate so they can get aquainted safely.

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

Hi! My German shepherds love to take dirt out of the plants in the back yard.when in the house if left alone they will sometimes bring items of mine out of my room to lay with but they never chew anything up.you may want to get a crate to put your dog in while you are away this may help also they have sprays that you can put on things to discourage them from chewing things.i don't think she has separation anxiety she is just being a puppy.good luck getting another one mine are the same age apart as how yours will be. be ready for your older one to revert back on some things.be strong.good luck!

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

Don't get a puppy if you will be gone that long. It can't hold it al day... unless either of you can come home and let it out or can hire someone to.

Crate her. She is probably just bored. People confuse separation anxiety with not exercising their dog enough before they leave. Exercise her well before you leave her alone, and she will likely sleep the majority of the time.

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

when we first got our two rat terriers they would be fine when we were home but when we left them they would chew EVERYTHING!!! so we asked our vet and he told us that they were bored and needed a smaller space to stay in while we were gone and more toys. we bought a baby gate thing and some more toys and they've been fine since then.

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

We have a 12 year old Border Collie. When he was a pup he NEVER chewed on anything he wasn't suppose to because we had a basket full of aprox. 30 toys!! :) Just in the last 2 years he has been up to no good when we are away from home. He chews on door jams, closet doors etc. We figured out that he only chewed up things when there was a thunderstorm or when construction/renovation was close by (the loud sound of hammers, saws etc.). We found that by exercising him more often seems to lesson the anxiety. I found some great tips and ideas on this website that has helped with our fur friend.

http://dogtime.com/home-daycare.html

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

No way to tell without a professional consultation. She is home alone a lot and bringing a puppy into the mix may make her more anxious (this is a lot of change in a short period of time for her). You may want to seriously consider a professional evaluation of her behavior in the context of your household schedule and changes.

see links for more on separation anxiety and also on how to choose a professional animal behaviorist. Good luck.

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

It sounds like your dog is bored. I would recommend some heavy duty exercise before you go out in the morning and then some toys in a confined space before you go out. An exhausted pup will sleep most of the day or at least relax.

Also if you can pop back in the day to let your dog out for a quick run and toilet - i dont' think a 10mth old can hold their bladder all day.

Do you think my dog is starting to have seperation anxiety?

It sounds as though Alle is definitely upset that you're gone all day now. It could be the beginning of separation anxiety issues or possibly just boredom!

German Shepherds bond very closely with their owners and she's probably feeling confused and stressed by your absence.

There are a few things you can do. If she's crate trained I'd suggest you leave her in the crate while you're gone so that she can't destroy things. If she's not crate trained, then confine her to one room that's pretty much dog-proofed. Either way make sure she also has some sturdy (as you know GSD's can chew up most toys!), chew toys to keep her busy. You can find a good selection of tough toys here http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/indes...

Also, try leaving the TV or radio on so the house doesn't seem so empty. You can even record your voice and play it back to her as it will help her feel less lonely. See some great ideas here http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-s...

Products that are pheremone-based, and release a calming scent into the air (noticeable only to dogs) such as Comfort-Zone plug ins, can be very helpful. Also natural products such as Rescue Remedy can be given to Alle to help her relax. These are totally safe and don't have any of the side-effects of medications etc. Find the best, recommended products for relieving separation anxiety here http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-s...

I would also make sure that you're giving Alle enough exercise. These are high energy dogs who get bored and destructive if they're not kept busy and occupied. Be sure to take her for a long walk before work, and afterwards. And give her a vigorous play-time sometime in the evening. If it's possible for someone to visit around lunchtime to take her out for a walk or just a play in the back yard and some company, that would probably help a lot and break up a long, lonely day for her. If you can't do it yourselves, maybe a friend, family member or neighbor would be willing to help out. Even get a petsitter/dog-walker maybe?

It may be that the new puppy will provide Alle with some company and help her feel less lonely while you're gone. But do be sure not to leave them alone together until they've had a chance to really get used to being around each other and you're sure there's not going to be any problems between them.

Find out more about separation anxiety at the webpage below. Best of luck.
