I thought for a start maybe stress as you have took the puppies from her but sounds like they are still with her. Maybe not a pup related thing maybe she has skin condition....check for fleas also and see your vet x

You should probably talk to your vet. Lots of female mammals, including human, often grow lots of extra hair during pregnancy, then shed lots of hair after giving birth. On an evolutionary level, the purpose is to provide soft lining for the nest.

Don't give mum puppy food. Give her normal food - try putting a little olive oil in there to condition her coat. If you are worried, take her to the vet. Congrats on the puppies!

it could be stress from the puppies, it could also be an allergy or complaint that has been laying dormant and the hormones from pregnancy have started up again.

fleas, roundworm, mites, mange, it could be any of them, your best getting her seen to now though incase it is anything that could infect the pups and you have to treat all of them.

good luck

It could be stress related but then giving birth and looking after her pups may mean over tiredness. I'd get the Vet to check her if i were you.

She needs lots of nourishment which should have been given during and after birth. Please give her lots of milk. Her coat will get back to normal soon. Also see that she gets a multivit supplement.

It is perfectly normal for a ***** to lose most of her coat after whelping, to a lesser extent they also do it after they have been in season. Just part of the usual cycle ruled by hormones. Don't worry about it, it will grow back for winter!

yeah probably is stress but l would take her to the vets just to be on the safe side could be fleas to don't forget her hormones will be all over the place at the min.good luck.

I had a dog which had the same problem after she had puppies. There was nothing we could do about it. I guess, just make sure she eats healthy and take her out for walks regularly.

I agree with Anwin. I am a breeder and my dog also looses a lot of hair, especially once the puppies are weaned. She looks very moth eaten, with very thin patches, but this is completely normal and is due to hormones.

She will soon start to grow her nice thick coat again so don't worry!

Now she is no longer feeding the puppies take her off puppy food and give her her usual adult food. It is advisable to feed puppy food to the ***** in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy and while she is still feeding the puppies, but not beyond that,

If you have any concerns give your vets a ring, they will put your mind at rest.
