Check out the internet and books. And it's Chihuahua.

Those little dogs are usually pretty pricey. If you get them from a good breeder, I would say at least $500. Probably a lot more. Yorkies and Poms need to be brushed at least once a day. All will need their nails, ears and anal glands checked regularly. They eat dog food, and they poop after they eat. Because they are all so small, you can't leave them outside for long, and they are fragile, so you have to be very careful that you don't step on them.

Dogs are a lot more work than cats because you have to house break them (cats will use the litter box with no effort on your part) and they are self-cleaning and are usually a lot more independent than dogs.

Don't get a dog if you can't handle cats.

good gosh!!!

if cats are a "hassle" for heaven's sake DO NOT get a dog!!!

What maintenance does this dog need?

if you cannot do the up keep on cats, who are very self sufficient. Then I don't think you need a "toy" breed of dog, as they need constant attention

They eat dog food - you can go to the pet store and buy it for them. The price will depend on the quality of food that you choose to feed - luckily, the smaller breeds don't eat as much!

They do their business as many times as is necessary, just like a human - the smaller the dog, the more often they're going to need to empty their bladder, though, so keep that in mind.

The initial price of the dog will depend on what sort of dog you purchase, whether it's papered or not, and where you are located.

Small dogs tend to be high maintenance! They need a lot of attention, and they can become yappy and snappy if not given the attention and training they need!

In all honesty, if two cats were too much for you to handle, DON'T GET A DOG!! Dogs are a LOT more hassle than cats - they need more time, more attention, they cost more....

Maybe you should invest in a nice fish tank. They're pretty, they're interesting to watch, and they don't require as much time and attention.

Will you pretty much let us know that you don't like hassle. Will you be responsible enough to potty train, even if it means getting up in the middle of the night to go potty. Will you take it to training classes every week for 8 weeks. What about all the vet care, grooming expense, chewing issues on your stuff. There is no such thing as a teacup. Why don't you start off with fish.

You think cats are a hassle?! What are you going to think about a PUPPY?

In my opinion, you don't know what the meaning of a lifetime commitment is to a pet, and you're not ready for a dog. Especially since you haven't done research because there's no such thing as "teacup" anything.

Until you're fully prepared to care for a pet for its ENTIRE life, don't get another. What happens when you get that dog you wanted and find it's a "hassle"? Are you going to give it to your neighbor? Dogs are more work than cats, and it doesn't seem like you're ready for one.

EDIT: All dogs shed. Even Yorkshire Terriers. They just shed less than other breeds. What happens if your family member is allergic to the dog? Are you going to get rid of it? I honestly suggest you wait to get a pet. You're just getting rid of your cats and already feel the need to get another pet you may not be able to keep up with.

What maintenance does this dog need?

I have two dogs and two cats and I wouldn't give one away, for anything!

If you can't handle a cat, even a high maintenance one, you can't handle a dog.

What maintenance does this dog need?

Cats are a dream next to caring for a dog. I think you need to volunteer at a local vet or a local rescue facility and learn to care for the dogs...grooming, brushing, walking (twice a day for 30 to 40 minutes), bathing, feeding, training, vet trims, etc. DO NOT GET A DOG.
