should we get-small or large does not matter-we do not have a fenced in yard-good w/ children-little to no hair shedding-loyal will stay by your side not take off-loveable-both work during the day so would have to be locked up or trustworthy enough to have the run of the house-easy to potty train

We have a Golden Retriever. She's just awesome. Do some research on the breed. There are strains of Goldens with not so much long hair. They are loyal, playful, obedient, eager to please and very good with our kids, specially the baby. The only downside with your situations is that all dogs, no matter the breed would need a fenced yard. Compare breeds, do research on breeders in your area and then decide. Don't buy at a pet shop... good luck : )

I think if you have a big backyard you should get a big lovable dog that the family will love like a chow or st.bernard.

I've found that a Rat terrier is good. not many people have heard of them, but they're good with kids. Theyre also really easy to crate train. Hope it helps!

a german shephaerd is a very loyal and protective. it will get along great with kids and it is over all a great dog. i am not sure about how easy they are to house train thought

Saddly, when it comes to dogs, most of there behavior has to do with the people raising them. I suggest either a real big dog or a real little one. Bigger dogs tend to have what is known as low "indoor energy". Of course this is not always the case. These dogs tend to be the kind that find a place to hang out in the house and not run around knocking everything down. They need lots of excersise (just like every dog) so they need to go on long walks (we take ours on two 3-mile walks everyday) My favorite breed of the kind are Rottweilers. I used to have one and she was very sweet and kind. Ask any Rottweiler owner and they will say the same thing. They are also quite smart.

Little dogs are more active in the house however there small so the damage is minimal. I suggest you get a cat then. I recomend an Ocicat in this case. These are real smart cats that will walk on leashes and even do dog like tricks like fetch, sit, shake paws etc. Also they will do cat stuff like lay there and do nothing.

A beagle it is great with kids and very loyal and it has short hair so you wont have fur balls all over the place. Hope this helps.

Poodle.....I don't like them, but they don't shed and they are easy to crate train. They don't need much exercise, so that is good since you have no fenced yard and you work. They are good with older children....5 yrs +. Just do some research and look around a bit. Good Luck!

A SIBERIAN HUSKEY OR A SAINT BERNARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I dont have a saint bernard but I saw the movie batoven the saint bernard it a really big dog!!!A siberian huskey is a big dog too!!!I think you should get a big dog because if you get a small dog your children could hurt it if they are little and dont understand.I had a siberian huskey ever sence I was a baby they are.....
