My 7 year old mini dachsund is loosing some of his hair. Why is this happening?

i have a 7 year old mini dachshund, for the past 4 years it's been a struggle trying to get him to eat his dog food insted of the cat's dry cat food. I brush his teeth but still theri bad and falling out. now he seems to be loosing some fur from his neck down to his tail. he recently had fles for a few weeks but i think i got rid of them. with all these factors what could be causing his hair loss?

Part of it may be bad breeding. Purebred dogs are basically all recessive genes and so are very prone to health issues. However, he might also have a food allergy. Get him on a high quality, grain free diet and see if that helps. Also, get him to the vet.
