My dog keeps shaking his head?

i have a 7 month old cockapoo and yesterday we took him to the groomers to get a hair cut, they shaved him and his ears, and ever since yesterday he keeps shaking his head and his ears are colder than the rest of his body. he wont do anything, he just sleeps. what should i do?

He may have the beginning of an ear ache or infection. That usually happens when water gets in the ears.

A visit to the vet

He porbably has an ear infection, you should take him to the vet right away. My GSD had an ear infection and did the same thing, it can be relieved with antibiotics, unless the groomers used an ear cleaner that she didn't rinse out? Look and see if their is build-up in there.

Typically a groomer will also clean the inside of the ears, which can be iritating afterwards to the dog. It usually only lasts a day or two. The temperature difference is also common, as the hair has been removed.

If the dog continues to shake for another day, then you may want to have him checked by a vet, just to make sure there is no problem. However, he should be fine by morning.

The groomers probably got water in his ears / or he has hair shaving inside.....

Take him to the vet for an exam.

I would smell his ears, if there is an odor than he probably is getting an ear infection. Alot of the times they shake their heads if they have an ear infection. If they look and smell normal than they may just be irratated from where they pluck the hair out of his ears. Keep an eye on it and if you think it may be an ear infection do NOT clean his ears, it can make the infection much worse-take him to the vet.

yes id say it has something to do with his ears maybe some hair fell in and is irritating him or maybe its something else try this mix white vinegar and water together in a bottle and pour some in dogs ears gentle massage around ear this is what you use to clean dogs ears its one part vinegar to twenty part water make sure to mix right hope this helps

First, going to the groomers is extremely stressful. He also is only 7 months old so sleep is good. However, before panicking do this--smell his ears; if the smell is nasty, might be ear infection (cockers as well as poodles are prone to these). Also see if there is any ear wax drainage and what color it is. Know also that the very fine ear hairs in the ear are probably already growing in again and feeling kinda 'itchy'. The other thing you might do is massage his ear canal GENTLY--that will get the blood circulating and soon the ear should be nice and pink. Obviously, if he yelps in pain (and not a yelp simply because you are messing with his ears), there might be a problem and you might call your vet to see what you should do. Also, might find out if other people you know have used the groomer you did and if they would recommend them or not...... Hope it all works out...Woof.

Hi there

It sounds to me as if this was a stressful day for your baby and the sleep is due to that

As for the shaking of the ears did they cut his ear hair so short that it is tickling him? Or maybe does he have Ear mites as You know the groomers is like a Clinic you can pick up any illness there so he may have gotten a good dose of mites but they should not have made their presence know so quickly so I would make a call to your vet and question them as you never ever know what could be causing this problem and you are rightfully worried about the constant sleep and shaking of the head

Good luck to you and Keep up updated

Call your Vet and dont go back to that groomer.

He could have an ear infection, water in his ears, or maybe the groomer traumatized him. Take him to the vet, or call them and ask
