so yes he has been coughing up like all day, like he has a hair ball, but he dosent stop he just keeps going, he has trouble brething and i dont know what to do, what could it be??

Has he eaten anything out of the ordinary (i.e chocolate)? have you let him outside, in the grass? Sometimes when a dog is ill they'll eat grass which makes them vomit. I would definitely take him to a vet if it gets any worse.

1. has he been outside chewing on anything? check to see if there is anything stuck in his mouth or throat. if you cant see, take him to the vet.

2. he may have kennel cough, has he been outside? has he been around any other dogs lately? take him to the vet for a full physical.

Some posts say kennnel cough clears up in a couple of weeks....in couple of weeks kennel cough can turn into pnuemonia...So what could have been an easy non-life threatening event has turned deadly. Don't Wait!!! Kennel cough is treated with medication available at your vet inexpensively. Pnuemonia treatment is hospitalization and very expensive.

We do not know that is the problem, most likely, but it could be more serious. He could have a blockage. He could becoming down with the dog flu (still very treatable like kennel cough), regardless, call your vet and get him seen.

could be something is stuck in his throat. Or that he ate something he wasn't supposed to like antifreeze or snail bait, though I think he'd be throwing up by now. Get him to the vet first thing!! Also I believe their are advise sites on line that could help too.

Kennel Cough is a 'doggie cold' or 'doggie flu'. A viral upper respiratory infection. People - kennel cough sounds like what whooping cough would sound like - it does not prevent your dog from breathing! It's a persistant cough!

Your dog could be doing a 'reverse sneeze' but would breathe normally once the episode was over. If he is not breathing normally he could have something lodged in his throat - you should have him seen by a vet. Is it worth the chance not to?
