My dog won't stop liking her butt...?

I have a 8 month old lab. She's been up at my parent's since wednesday night and when i brought her home yesterday i noticed she really started licking her butt. Like for five minute increments so her hair is totally soaked back there. How do i know if she has an enlarged gland that is bothering her? Or could it possibly be something else?

Do your parents use any form of carpet freshener they sprinkle on the carpets - this can irritate.

I would say give her a bath in case its something at your parents which has irritated her.

If it continues a trip to the vet is a must to be on the safe side

she could possibly have worms next time you take her outside check her poop for white wormlike things.

Dont wait too long to get the dog some vet help, the problem could get worse causing more pain for the dog. Also it could be a sign of worms!

Take her to the vet. Could be impacted anal glands, tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms, etc. The only way to know is to get to the vet. If she is also scooting, that's a really good sign that it may be an anal gland, but not always.

If you dont see anything unusual and its been long shes been like this, clean this area to give your dog some comfort while you take her to the veterinarian....dont try to guess if is anal gland,tape worms,ticks...you need to check this out with vet....my dog have this and wasnt any of this choices at all....

i know this sounds nasty but its true her gland back there need to be taken care of and a vet will charge you alot of money to do this. its very easy to take care of you're self . you need rubber gloves and a towel. put you're finger in the dogs butt you don't have to go deep you will feel a lump this is a gland when you hit it you will know the dogs sent gland back there will empty almost as soon as you touch it . i have a lab he has to have this done every few months. its gross but it works. have you ever seen a dogs walk his butt along a carpet hes working on trying to get that gland to empty.

Sounds like she might have an anal gland infection and needs to have them expressed. You can have a vet or groomer do it or you can do it yourself. In the bath tub with your face away from the rear take you thumb and index finger and firmly squeeze either side of the glands with an up and out motion-have someone help hold the head though because they don't like it very much. This needs to be done every time the dog gets a bath.

i would say take her to the vets asap she might have worms or mabye she is starting her season. She might have a sore there or somthing even worser i would take her to the vets asap it could be seriouse. take her to the vets!!!
