How can i tell if my dog has gotten rid of worms...?

My dog just recently vomited up a tiny amount of this almost clear stuff and i was lookin and noticed a tiny worm almost like a magget, no bigger than a strand of hair and almost as long as the width of your fingernail and I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of worm this might be, I dont know if when they have heart worms if they come out of them like this or not...and also my aunt had some liquid worm medicine which was for ringworms and hook worms and i gave him a dose and know i dont know if he is rid of them or not, and i never see his poo so i cant tell that way....

The only way to be sure is to take a stool sample to the vet and have it checked. It's done all the time and you should not be charged for an office visit. It is usually just a small fee ($5.00) or something. But since you saw the worm you know he has worms so just ask if they could take the blood test for heart worms, it's the only way they can tell for sure ($12.00) around there is the fee, at my vets office. They will call you in about 2 weeks with results. Get your dog on the preventative heart wormer. It's a little wee pill the dogs love it. 1 pill once a month and you will have no kind of worms, and I think it prevents fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes bites too. Good Luck

Keep an eye on his or her poop and see if there are worms in it anymore.

Usually there's some weight loss associated with worms, when the worms are gone there will be a sudden weight gain.

I have a feeling what you saw was not a worm.

Normally, worms are located in the intestines, not in the stomach...too much acid there. They then show up in the poo.

Heartworms can be found in the heart, with evidence found in the bloodstream. You will not find heartworms in puke or poo.

If you think your dog has worms, get him tested at the vet. The test is inexpensive.

yes of course you can keep a keep eye out if he still has worms however i think the savest way is to go to the vet and get him checked! my dog has been dewormed before but he got a diffrent type of worm, no idea how he managed that but he did so i think it's still better if you jsut go see the vet and ask him

The only person qualified to answer this is your vet. You need to have a fecal exam done and possibly bring in the vomit. Whatever it is, it does need to be treated and some worms are very difficult to get rid of. Over the counter medication will not always work. Don't risk the health of your dog with it.
