My dog's ears are dry and he wipmered when I touched them, what is this?

There's dry skin on the tips of his ears and the skin is dark.Someof the hair on his hears and top of his head is coming off too. I'm really worried. His inner ears are clean and I bathe him regularly. Could this be frost bite or a skin condition? We live in LA county, so it doesn't get too cold. After I noticed it I started bringing him in at night. Any help?

Sounds like it could be an infection or mites....best to contact a good vet right away for some advice and pricing info.

Also, here is a link for some cleansing products as you should frequently clean you dogs ears to keep him/her healthy.

As well as some links explaining symptoms, etc for mites:

It could be a number of things ranging from ear mites to mange. You need to get him to the vet today to be evaluated.

Yes, bring him in at night and also take him to the vet. It's probably an easy treatment, but it might really be bothering him.

See your vet. There are a number of things that can cause this and some require medication. It will only get worse so do it soon. Make sure he is getting a GOOD nutritionally balance diet.

A trip to the vet is needed here. He could be bothered by flies while he's outside and they could be biting his ears causing the scabing on the tips. Best to let the vet check him out to find out what is causing it so he can treat it. Good luck.

ask your Vet for Conofite.....your ear issue will be gone!

He's been outside, and there are thing like mites he could have gotten from some of the other animals out there. But there are other things it could be, as well.

Do take him to the vet, and make sure you wash your own hands very well after handling him. You can get some of that stuff, too, and that wouldn't be fun!

The vet should do a scraping to determine what the cause, and can then give you the right thing for the problem. Don't use anything left over from another ear infection, or other problems - you could actually make things worse!
