She's shedding like a dog. I find strands of it on my cloths and in my car. She's only 19. It looks like she has a full head of hair,but im worried. I'm telling her to go see a stylist, but she says its normal.

there can be many reasons for taht (hormones, excessive production of sebum, stress, lack fo certain vitamins and microelements etc). i do have th esame problem and in my case it is all those things put together catually. i recommend (if she has greasy hair - Diane 35 -contraceptive pill usually used for acne, thus they shoudl help her for the production of sebum) and use shampoo such as T-Gel or Alphosyl twice or three times a week; she shoudl atke vitamin tablets for hair (i am from Poland and in my country the best tablets for hair are Silica but it will eb enough if she goes to chemists or health store and ask there about tablets MADE ESPECIALLY FOR HAIR (it is possible thta they will be made for hair, skin and nails); THE THING I WILL RECOMMEND THE MOST IS SHAMPOO AND TONIC CALLED NERIL (!!!) (use tonic everyday and the sampoo alternatively with the ones i mentioned before). i aslo advice to check whether she hasnt any problems with thyroid as that may be the acuse as well.

also if shes stressed some tranquilizers prescribed by doctors will help

well first stress and dietery changes can make a differance also remember everyone looses 50-100 hairs a day. If her hair is long then you will notice it more then if it is short. Hell i shed like you wouldnt believe. Also baldness is not just a male gene. It affects both sexes. That is why they make rogine for women. If she is loosong more then she is used to or is uncofortable w this well then i would suggest hoing in for a chack up.

maybe because she is stressed...there are many causes of hair falling... maybe she uses brush, the way she combs her hair, or she use blower to dry her hair, applying chemicals, maybe she always tie her hair tightly or maybe she lacks of nutrition (underweight)... tell her to see a specialist or use a comb that is suitable for her hair and good for her scalp...and oh, tell her that 100 strokes of combing is good for her scalp... tell her also to massage her scalp while shampooing in order to circulate the blood in her scalp... does it satisfy your question?

To answer your question let me first say I'm a licensed hairstylist. Many things will cause hair loss; refering to abnormal hair loss. 1. stress 2.poor diet. 3. some medications 4.any recent medical illness (surgery,pregnency,birth, miscarrage etc) 5 menopause 6. skin disorders (dandruff, etc) even wearing your hair up in pony tails, braids etc.

Also is her hair falling out or breaking off due to not taking care of it with reg. trims or if she is over brushing it. Even in some cases a family history of hair loss ( women in the family)

Well the best place to start at resolving this issue is to start eating a healthy diet and make sure its high in vitamin B's and c; (she should check with her doctor first) even vitamin suppliments (if doctor oks). remember though it will take a few weeks possibly before you will be able to notice a change.
